PJ Dick managed construction of the 15,500-sf, three-story Frick Environmental Center, a Living Building Challenge project. The LEED-certified project is a living classroom, allowing The Pittsburgh Parks Conservancy to teach visitors about sustainability. The Center uses 40% less energy than a typical building of its size, captures and reuses rainwater, filters and treats all wastewater on site, and has on-site solar panels. The center is also constructed with regionally sourced materials. Floor-to-ceiling windows line the building. PJ Dick self-performed the concrete for the building, including a unique stormwater feature.
