Shell Cracker Plant

Trumbull provided site development for Shell’s 400-acre ethylene cracker plant in Monaca, PA, the largest oil and gas project in western Pennsylvania and the first multibillion-dollar petrochemical investment associated with the Marcellus and Utica shale formations. The $280 million project included the movement of 9,000,000 cubic yards of earth; construction of two bridges; retaining walls; box culverts; storm drainage, process piping, and site utilities; and installation of foundation piles, duct banks, and roadway infrastructure. Major components also included a 40-acre rail yard, a $38 million interchange turned over to PennDOT, a multi-level parking garage, a central control building, and a 1,600-car off-site parking facility.
