Carnegie Mellon University Scaife

PJ Dick provided CM at Risk services for the construction of the new Scaife Hall at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The $54 million project included an 85,000-square-foot, six-story academic building housing the university’s Mechanical Engineering Department with offices, classrooms, wet and dry laboratories, a high-bay drone arena, lecture hall, meeting spaces, and collaborative student areas. The project also involved demolition of the original Scaife Hall and construction of below-grade laboratory spaces requiring complex waterproofing systems and extensive trade coordination. Designed by KieranTimberlake, the facility incorporated sustainable features including stormwater detention systems, bio-retention areas, and green roof elements in pursuit of LEED Gold certification.
