Overview
PJ Dick provided Construction Management at Risk services for the $21 million renovation of the 186,500-square-foot, nine-story Fairfax Apartments building into student housing in Pittsburgh’s Oakland neighborhood, accommodating up to 381 residents.
The project included selective demolition, reconfiguration of units, interior finish upgrades, and comprehensive MEP system improvements, along with the addition of a new fitness center, dining and kitchen area, and study and community spaces. Work also included replacement of the existing freight elevator and upgrades to the adjacent 11,100-square-foot annex building. Completed between March 2022 and July 2023, the project transformed the existing facility into modern, student-focused housing.
