Overview

PJ Dick provided CM at Risk services for the $22 million construction of a new five-story, 42,000-square-foot facility designed to provide shelter, housing, and support services for adults experiencing homelessness. Completed on time in November 2022, the 95-bed facility includes 45 single-occupancy housing units and operates as Allegheny County’s first year-round, low-barrier shelter serving adults and their pets. The project was a collaboration among PNC, Highmark Health, UPMC, Allegheny County Government, the City of Pittsburgh, ACTION Housing, and the Urban Redevelopment Authority. In addition to overnight shelter, the facility offers a day program connecting non-residents to medical care, food, showers, mail, and other essential services. UPMC operates an on-site medical and behavioral health clinic providing evaluations, emergency treatment, substance use and behavioral health services, and bridge prescriptions. The project was funded through local contributions and grants, with land donated by the City of Pittsburgh and the Urban Redevelopment Authority.
