Overview

PJ Dick, Inc., a Joint Venture with Barton Malow, provided General Construction services for the Clinical Services Building portion of the new Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC. The project included construction of a new 1 million-square-foot, nine-story hospital featuring 262 private patient rooms, 79 critical care beds, 13 operating suites, and a 41-bed emergency room and trauma center. Additional work included structural tie-ins to the adjacent existing hospital, full buildout of the eighth-floor cardiac and intermediate care inpatient units, a medical inpatient unit, and a NICU. Constructed within a dense urban environment, the project required extensive coordination with MEP contractors for installations within tight ceiling spaces and compliance with LEED documentation requirements.
